The largest city in the Champagne-Ardenne, Reims is inextricably linked with this region’s famous sparkling wine. In fact, the city’s symbol - its huge Gothic cathedral - has a window depicting the monk who invented champagne: Dom Perignon. This coronation cathedral of French kings for around a millennium also has stained-glass windows designed by Marc Chagall.
A mosaic detailing champagne production also features on an Art Nouveau building with a barrel-shaped door on Rue de Mars, next to the 17th-century city hall.
But it’s the Reims champagne houses that are stars of the show. Many big brands are headquartered here and some including Pommery and Taittinger offer cellar tours in their underground chalk caves. You can also visit Veuve-Clicquot by appointment. Of course, no tour would be complete without a champagne tasting session, so you may leave feeling a little heady.
As you’d expect of such a prestigious city, there’s no shortage of restaurants, bars and shops including Galeries Lafayette and the Espace d’Erlon shopping centre. Tree-lined Place d’Erlon is considered the heart of the city and is home to the Reims Christmas markets.
Paris Orly Airport is the closest, so chances are you’ll arrive by car. See Booking.com for a great range of Reims accommodation that include parking.
We find Reims always a safe environment to wander around.
We find Reims always a safe environment to wander around. A little bit for everyone. Good shopping, good restaurants and an excellent market on Saturdays.
There is an awful lot to look at but just sit and people watch with a glass of champagne.
Reims is good for just chilling

The town has some very nice older French architecture and is very walkable. You can find everything you need within a few hundred meters. We didn’t use public transportation but we saw trams, buses and the rail station is an easy five minute walk.

The cathedral was beautiful and our cellar tour was fun.
The cathedral was beautiful and our cellar tour was fun. We found the main square / fountains and took the tram for a trip around and about. It was all very lovely with more than 1 glass of champagne to help things along!

Nice city that can be toured in 1 full day.
Nice city that can be toured in 1 full day. The main attraction is the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Make sure to take the Pommery tour champagne experience (no need to do Villa Demoiselle). Also make sure to visit the automobile museum. Have dinner or lunch around the Place Drouet d'Erlon (which is 5 min walk from the main train station). You can also visit the Basilique Saint-Remi (10 min walk away from Pommery).

A very good place to stay for Champagne lovers and to use as a base to explore the region and is not too far from Epernay by car or train. It also has some very fine examples of Art Deco and Art Nouveau architecture. The cathedral is not to be missed and the Crayères at Ruinart an UNESCO site

Perfect place for a city break.
Perfect place for a city break. A lovely city with a beautiful Cathedral and local church. Excellent shops, good balance for all budgets. Wonderful, traditional bistro/brasserie French restaurants.
Great city vibe with lots of entertainment, night life and wonderful cafes.
Check out the boulangeries and local cafes. Excellent cakes and pastries.
Lovely people, happy to speak English if you don't speak French.
This was found in a hurry when we discovered all hotels in Reims full on a Thursday night. We booked late and had an immediate reply from Elias telling us how to pick up keys and access the property. Very close to Centre Ville. A compact, tiny, but clever garrett room in the roof! Water was hot and plentiful. Bed/ sofa bed very welcome after a day of travel from UK. Didn't try cooking but a hob, sink, dining table all available in the room.
Hotel was quaint and charming, exactly what I envisioned for our stay in Reims. Wish we did not have to pay to use the pool, a small thing, but it would have been nice to spend some time there to relax. Loved that I had an ample amount of towels and washcloths every day in my room. All of the staff I encountered were very helpful and pleasant. I stayed in four cities during this European trip and this hotel was by far my favorite!
Staff were very helpful and always happy to help. The restaurant and bar was great - lively in the evenings but quiet for breakfast and lunch. Location-wise it couldn't be more central with great access to historical centre and champagne houses. The city centre is bustling, so not a quiet spot, but if the bustling centre is what you want then this hotel is perfect. Discounted underground parking only 50 metres away!
A really lovely modern hotel in the central area of Reims with a secure underground car park for vehicles. Lovely big room, spotlessly clean, friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. A big bonus is the underground car park (supplemental cost) to keep my filthy motorcycle safe, secure, toasty and dry. Hotel has a restaurant but it it is easy walking distance of the main centre and plenty of other restaurants.
Staff incredibly helpful (despite a booking error on my part). Room excellent. Breakfast excellent. Small hotel-labelled car park was full but hotel is next door to a giant car park and reception provided an exit ticket (€12 for the day). There was a fantastic sushi restaurant a few hundred metres away, and it's a short walk via a park/playground to the gothic cathedral in the centre of Reims.
Very good location, accessible by car, nearby main sightseeing and the central gare.
Good restaurants, bars and bakeries nearby as well.
The hotel has its own underground parking for 16 EUR/24h, easy to access and it was not busy when we were there.
Friendly staff at the reception, easy and quick check-in/out process.
Good wifi, easy to connect and stay connected, with just one access code.
Location is perfect for our long drive to the South of France. We have stopped there 2 times now and this has been the best place. Easy to get to, lovely little hotel, clean and tidy with a lovely restaurant which serves great food. Last time we had dinner and we decided to have the breakfast as well.
Staff were all very helpful and welcoming.
Room was clean and exactly what we expected.
Very well planned, furbished and managed hotel with automated late-night entry, video-supervised free parking, large rooms and very clean all round. Well lit and safe. Near large commercial center, gas stations, bakery, highway. The hotel was fairly new at the time of my stay and looked fresh and designerly. Perfect for an overnight stay on a road trip.
excellent location - no more than ten minutes’ walk to centre of town. semi-secure multi-storey car park immediately adjacent to hotel (€16 for 15 hours overnight). very clean. unusual but quirky and fun decor. very comfortable bed. welcoming Reception. ideal particularly for a nightstop in Reims.
Reception was open late, which was good after a long day's travel.
On site secure parking was a bonus.
Hotel is walking distance to the centre-ville, with restaurants, cafés and the magnificant Cathédrale Notre Dame.
PDJ was a pickup bag, but ok. Room had a kettle - a first for France!
Great value for money. Rooms are super clean. Staff was absolutely wonderful throughout. Located at the edge of the city centre which means walking distance from sights, shopping and restaurants, but also a convenient and cheap car park right nextdoor in rue Hincmar.
10 min by car to city centre, probably also in easy reach by bus / bike.
Relatively quiet. Breakfast is offered at about EUR 8pp.
The Mercure Hotel next door has a nice restaurant/bar.
Champagne tastings nearby.
Nice breakfast; comfortable room and beds. Staff was very helpful and friendly, Nice lounge/bar near entrance. Would stay here again if we ever come to Reims. In walking distance to main attractions in Reims.
Brilliant location, right in the heart of Reims plus added bonus of Car Park right next door to the hotel. All added to a very satisfactory overnight stay. Will use hotel again when travelling through France.
the hotel is situated is a busy street but our room was quiet. We chose it to be near the city centre and with a car park next door. It felt newly decorated and very clean. Restaurants were very nearby.
Nice hotel for a motorway stay. Small kitchenette, secure parking, right off major highway. Very large and nice grocery store nearby with several restaurants.
The hotel was very easy to find and well located for the centre of Reims and for a great flea market on the Sunday morning right next door in the market hall.
Convenient location if you don't want to be right in the centre - 10 minute walk from Gard due Reims, 25 minutes to the cathedral. On a quiet side street.
